75,000 litre customised Torpedo submersible tank.
Located in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne, the Marnong Estate Winery sits in the rapidly growing Mickleham with stunning, uninterrupted views of the Macedon Ranges. As a very arid and dry area, the Company needed to pump water to irrigate 27.5 acres of vineyards, the source of six varieties of Shiraz.
Not only did they need a solution that would not disturb the stunning vista, they needed it done quickly. AKS Industries engineered a completely customised water solution – a Torpedo Underground Tank, a single-piece construction made to suit the project.
Normally used for stormwater, sewer and rainwater, the Torpedo Underground Tank was specifically designed for potable (drinking) water to provide the perfect solution. Measuring 2.5 metres high and 75 metres long, the 70,000 litre, as a single piece, was able to be transported easily, fitted in a single lift. This made for a fast and efficient installation in just half a day.
‘Working with AKS has been a pleasure. They facilitated what we needed, a difficult project with tight deadlines and immense pressure to make sure we could get this operational quickly. AKS has certainly delivered.’
Gerald Ackroyd, General Manager, Marnong Estate.
